Eaves Hall. Bonfire night wedding. Laura and James

Laura and James’ awesome bonfire night wedding at the beautiful Eaves Hall

“Hi Dave, we wanted to say a big thank you for the beautiful photos, we are blown away with them! You have captured the day so well and we have some stunning wedding photos to treasure forever. We've had a few people say that they are best wedding photos they've seen - I think it's the red tree that did it :)...probably some skills in there too!!”

Eaves hall and Mitton Hall (the sister venue) were the two venues I visited the most in 2019. In fact I was at Eaves so many times throughout the year that I could put together a slideshow of the leaves in the vast stunning grounds changing colour over the seasons (I won’t as that would be really boring but I’m just saying…) but I have never seen the leaves so amazingly red as they were for Laura and James’ big day on. the 5th November.

It doesn’t matter how many times I photograph weddings at Eaves hall, every time I arrive I am in awe of how stunning the Georgian mansion looks at the top as I walk up the steps of the long path, through the beautiful colourful gardens. I still get a buzz and know it’s going to be an incredible day.

Getting ready in the main hall

Of the thirty bedrooms and a lodge to get ready in the Kemple suite is by far my favourite room. The light in there is incredible. I hadn’t had chance to meet Laura before the wedding other than a skype chat, but she was so lovely and welcoming and chilled out. This didn’t change throughout the entire day, and it turns out she wasn’t the only one. I felt right at home with them all in one of my favourite venues.

After a quick pint at the bar (it’s tradition!) James and the boys got ready in the snooker room downstairs making it so easy to go to and from between rooms to capture everything going on. Back upstairs with the girls and Laura and James’ daughter was beyond excited to get in her dress. As you’ll see in the photo’s, she literally couldn’t wait.

The wedding ceremony

Like all the rooms at Eaves, the ceremony room has great natural light from the large windows to the side and the huge mirrors on all the walls. The flower shop in Clitheroe had worked their magic and added to the cosy winter feeling with fairy lights and flowers.

Strolling around the bright red grounds

The grounds are stunning all year round but especially at the end of October when the already red leaves turn even brighter and start to drop on the floor. All the tree’s had already dropped apart from one, and that one tree was completely covered in the brightest red leaves I’ve ever seen from the ground to the top of the branches. It was an absolute dream for portraits. I don’t like to drag you around loads of different spots for photo’s when you could be enjoying drinks with your favourite people. But 15-20 minutes time out with just the two of you in a beautiful part of the grounds is all you need.

Staring at the bright red sky before hitting the dance floor

After everyone enjoyed their delicious meal (including me - thanks team!) and belly laughed through the speeches we were treated to the most epic of firework displays, it was bonfire night after all. Eaves hall really know what they’re doing here as guests stroll out of the hall and onto the forecourt as fireworks explode over the tiered gardens and the hills of the Ribble valley. It was the perfect way to signal the start of the party, which Laura and James chose to have in the main hall way so to keep all their guest together.

A huge thanks to James and Laura for having me at their amazing wedding, to the awesome team at Eaves hall for looking after me once again, and to the following suppliers who make photographing weddings fun!
