The Out Barn wedding photography. Aimee and Gary

“Hi David

Thanks for the sneaky peak blog, we LOVE it!!! We cant stop looking at them!

Thanks again for photographing our wedding day- we felt that you went above and beyond for us and it has clearly paid off as we have some amazing photos already!”

I’d been looking forward to Aimee and Gary’s wedding at the Out Barn near Clitheroe for ages. A few weeks ago I met them for a ‘pre-wedding shoot’ at Formby national trust and was reminded what a really cool - easy going, happy and smiley couple they are. I instantly hit it off with them and I was really looking forward forward to getting back to the Out Barn, this being my first visit back since 2017!

A different start to the day…

Aimee and her team of bridesmaids had rented a beautiful cottage in Ribchester for them all to get ready in. I put the post code in my sat nav and got there bright and early to capture all the excitement while they got ready. When I arrived I wasn’t sure if it was the right address, but saw a group of girls waving from the lounge window. It must be….

I was invited in and introduced myself to everyone. They were friendly enough but looked a little confused. When I asked where Aimee was they told me I might have the wrong house. Turns out this was a hen party who invited me in because they thought I was the stripper! Aimee and the girls were next door.

Over at the other cottage there was just as much excitement as they all drank champagne while having their hair and make up done. I felt much more welcome here and got on with creatively capturing all the laughs, joined again by the awesome Toni Darcy for the second week running. There was so much great natural light in this cottage which made the preparations a real treat to photograph.

A beautiful ceremony at the Out Barn

The Out barn is a totally unique and exclusive wedding venue in the the heart of the Ribble valley. It is set in the rural country side and has stunning views of Pendle hill beyond miles of fields. In the barn itself the reception room has huge windows that fill the space with natural light and make it a photographers dream to capture wedding ceremonies. It was made even more beautiful by ‘Bloom and Green’ who had provided flowers throughout the venue and covered a ceremony hoop at the end of the Aisle.

After hanging out with the Groomsmen for a short while, it wasn’t long before Aimee made her entrance.

Storm Hannah

A few weeks of glorious weather all changed the day before the wedding, but as I always say - it really makes no difference. Weddings are all about having the best day of your life with all your favourite people and a bit of rain can’t stop that. Plus, it pretty much never rains ALL day and that was the case today. After Aimee and Gary said ‘I do’ we got straight outside through confetti and strolled down to a gorgeous little bridge down a path for them to have a 10 minute breather together. All laughs and smiles, which continued into the wedding breakfast and through some fantastic speeches.

Storm Hannah threw down more rain while we were inside, but right on cue, was kind enough to give us another five minutes after the meal to grab a few epic shots in front of Pendle hill. Gary spun Aimee around, which made another unexpected appearance during the first dance - amazing!!

Here are some of my favourites from Aimee and Gary’s mega wedding at the Out barn at Clitheroe. I can’t wait to be back here later this year!
