Rebecca & Joe, Holmes Mill wedding, Clitheroe, Lancashire

“Thanks again for everything you did on the day, all of our family and friends have been so full of compliments and we absolutely LOVE the images you shared, exactly what we wanted”

Rebecca & Joe are just the most lovely couple, and I had a great day with them and all their family and friends. They care so much about every one around them and are constantly checking everyone is okay, happy, and has everything they need.

Bridal Prep with the awesome Sonara Parker

As if this day couldn’t get any better, when I arrived at Rebecca’s house in the morning I found I was working with my good friend Sonara. Apart from being amazing at what she does (As proof check out how many times she’s won the north west region of the Wedding industry awards!), Sonara and her team are such a great laugh and brilliant at calming any nerves. It was so relaxed at Rebecca’s house which is great for me to able to just blend in and start capturing moments. And as I said above, she is constantly checking everyone is happy - after about the 7th or 8th offer, I could no longer resist the offer of a bacon sandwich - something I never normally do…Honestly!

Holmes Mill Wedding photography

I absolutely love Holmes mill. As a resident of Clitheroe I was so excited when it opened, and it’s so great for the town with a food hall that has seen TV Chef James Martin pay a visit, a stunning hotel called the Spinning block, and a beer hall boasting the longest bar in the country with loads of local ales - Bowland brewery actually brew on site. In fact, I love it here so much that I’m now based out of an office on the top floor here!

As a wedding photographer Holmes mill is a dream. This was the third wedding I’ve photographed here and every one of them has been awesome. The Industrial chic venue is the perfect backdrop for really cool wedding photo’s, and when you combine that with the incredible natural light that fills both the ceremony room upstairs and the engine room on the ground floor it makes capturing natural moments really fun.

Spinning block confetti & drinks reception in the engine room

After the ‘I do’s’ Rebecca and Joe wanted to take 10 mins for a drive around together in the beautiful vintage car they had hired. I grabbed a couple of natural unposed shots as they got in the lift and made their way to the car. The guests filled their hands with confetti and got ready for some action in the space between the mill and the spinning block hotel. It’s the perfect place for it with high stone walls, bunting and festoon lights, and the old chimney in the background.

The engine room is probably my favourite room in the mill, and Rebecca and Joe chose to have their drinks reception there before heading back upstairs for the wedding breakfast.

Speeches and party time!

The room looked amazing for the wedding breakfast. In my previous visits the room has been arranged with rows of long tables but Rebecca & Joe chose to have a long top table under the windows with round tables filling the room. This was great for capturing all the laughs and tears during the hilarious speeches.

Captain Atlantic were in charge of the party - and they absolutely delivered! It’s always a great party at Holmes mill - the weddings I’ve photographed here have all had packed dance floors and loads of action - there must be something in the beer!

Enough from me, enjoy looking through some favourites from Rebecca & Joe’s wedding, David.

Thanks for looking - If you’re getting married at the amazing Holmes mill and love what you see, then it would be great to hear from you!!
