EAVES HALL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
Eaves Hall is probably the venue I have photographed more than any other over the last 10 years, and every wedding has been amazing in it’s own right, and totally unique. I still get a buzz as I walk up the steps from the car park and see the grand Georgian mansion waiting at the top for another party.
Last year alone (2019) I photographed 7 weddings there through the seasons, from beautiful colourful spring weddings, through scorching outdoor summer ceremonies to cosy winter weddings with roaring fires in the lounge and incredible firework displays for all to see from the front of the building over the Ribble valley. I was also lucky enough to be chosen to photograph their own wedding and event managers wedding.
The grounds at Eaves hall give endless opportunities for relaxed portraits too. The gardens through the summer months (well up until November actually) are the most colourful that I’ve seen anywhere with trees covered in intensely red leaves, to the grand pavilion and perfectly kept lawns at the top that always get great evening sunlight… Well it is the Ribble valley, so that last bit isn’t a guarantee!
The Venue
Sat in 13 acres of stunning gardens in the county side of the Ribble valley, Eaves hall is without doubt one of my favourite venues to photograph weddings at. It is an exclusive venue meaning you have the whole place to yourself, and can seat up to 120 guests in the day and a further 250 at night. Inside there are two ceremony rooms to suit the size of your wedding from the beautiful ballroom for smaller intimate weddings to the luxurious chandelier filled dining room. Both rooms are light and airy with huge windows drenching the rooms in natural light - a photographers dream!
Eaves hall also boasts 30 bedrooms meaning your nearest and dearest can all stay with you without the hassle of having to book out all the nearby pubs and bed & breakfasts. That said, if there are extra people wanting to stay, the Waddington Arms 2 minutes down the road is also owned by James Places and a perfect cosy choice.
Want to get married outside?
Eaves hall has the choice of two licensed outdoor areas to tie the knot. The ‘Veranda’ at the front, makes use of Eaves hall’s stunning architecture as the backdrop, and the brand new ‘Pavilion’ sits on the lawn amongst perfectly manicured gardens. It is perfect, especially on a hot sunny day.
The Lodge
The lodge at the bottom of the driveway is almost like a mini mansion - a mini Eaves hall, in that it has the same architectural appearance. The lodge is a great to choice for staying over the night before your big day - especially if there was another wedding the day before but you want to be there bright and early. It is always well stocked with pizzas and prosecco, and a selection of dvd’s with a wedding vibe to get you in the mood… If you weren’t already!
I have to say though, for photographs of the morning preparations, you just can’t rival the two suites in the main hall. In particular the Kemple suite which has so much space and lets in so much light.
What I love about Eaves Hall
Well I suppose I’ve already mentioned a lot of the things that I love about photographing weddings at Eaves hall. To recap those, I love the light and spacious rooms for all parts of the day and the gardens which are beautiful but totally different all year round. But one thing I haven’t mentioned and is one of the most important things - the staff. They are amazing. So helpful, and run the day perfectly for you, both in the lead up and on the day itself. Nothing is too much to ask, and their attention to detail, service and flexibility is what sets them apart. You want your wedding ceremony outside? No problem. You want your first dance in the ballroom, dining room, or hall way? No problem, it’s your day and they go out of their way to make it special for you.
The food is also exceptional from the canapes to the wedding breakfast (they always look after us suppliers!) to the evening buffet.
Your first dance
I have photographed first dances at Eaves hall everywhere from the dining room to the ballroom, the hallway to the lawns outside. I love how accommodating they are. All the rooms are a perfect setting, but it’s definitely worth considering the hallway for your first dance. As there are separate rooms for your guests to roam, having your first dance here brings everyone together and stops people breaking off into groups. Also as your evening guests walk in it’s the first thing they see. It goes without saying that it makes for great photo’s too. Of course if you’re treated to warm summer evening sunsets then it’s pretty magical dancing on the lawn with your guests until the dance floor beckons.

Whatever the weather…
When choosing your wedding venue it’s so important to consider how it can work in all weather conditions, especially in the north west of England. Fortunately Eaves hall is just as stunning inside as it is out. It goes without saying that if you’re blessed with the sun you will want to make the most of the outside space, but, in Clitheroe, sometimes it rains…A bit more than sometimes!
The rooms inside have so much natural light it’s no problem to sneak off away from it all to make relaxed and intimate portraits together, as well as get your loved ones together for a few quick family photo’s. There’s also the pillars at the front to keep everyone dry.
Or you can just brave the elements and get out there with your umbrella and wellies - I love taking romantic shots out in the rain! So whatever the weather, you’re going to get amazing photo’s at Eaves hall.
